Education and Legal Experience

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, Robert W. Nizich earned a Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University. Since 1980, Robert W. Nizich has fought for the rights of injured longshoremen, harbor workers, shipyard workers, seamen, government contractors working overseas, and offshore oil rig workers. After 11 years as an OWCP lawyer with another law firm, Robert W. Nizich opened his own law office in 1991. The Robert W. Nizich Law Office staff believes in maintaining good communication with clients and standing steadfastly for the rights of injured workers. Our practice has been a pillar of excellence in the field of maritime and workers’ law, and Robert W. Nizich’s contributions have not gone unrecognized by others. Since 1994, he has served as a Judge Pro Tem in Municipal Court and resolved legal disputes as an arbitrator. After being nominated by Mayor Richard Riordan for the position, Robert W. Nizich served as a commissioner for the Los Angeles Recreation & Parks Commission.

Family and Community Involvement

Besides his extensive accomplishments as an OWCP lawyer, Robert W. Nizich is a devoted family man. He and his wife Darin have five children: John, Devon, Michelle, Danica, and Jared. The latest addition to the family came in December of 2009 with the birth of their first grandchild, Sophia Rose. Robert W. Nizich is also very involved in the community. He has been re-elected multiple times for board president of the Boys and Girls Club, which he participated in as a boy. He is involved with many community organizations, including the Dalmatian-American Club, Croatian-American Club, Elk’s Club, and the Harbor Bar Association. The Robert W. Nizich Law Office supports many community groups, with a focus on non-profit organizations which benefit children.
